I am an animation major and would like to learn the basics of 2D animation to be able to create 2D animated shorts and projects. I love animals and nature a lot, taking a lot of inspiration from them. I would love to learn some tips for 2D animation of natural things such as trees or grass moving in the wind, raindrops, and animals. I also love watching short animated films and projects along with movies. On Youtube people often make MAPs (Muti. Animator Projects) together with a bunch of different animations coming to together to create a story, each animation about a 5-10 (can vary) second part of it. I'd like to build up to the point where I feel good enough to participate in some MAPs and work with other animators to create said projects. I also love music and telling stories and would like to be able to tell some of my own stories with 2D animations as I think it is a very beautiful way of storytelling with a multitude of unique and creative styles. I was also watching the Fox and the Hound (by Disney) and really love/miss the old style of animation. I like the new 3D animation as well wish the large studios would make some more 2D animated films again.
Also, I don't know if you take course suggestions (and it may be too advanced for level 1) but I think having the class work on a short MAP project together would be fun and give experience working with other animators. MAPs also don't have to keep any one look/style throughout so it would also be a chance to work together without having to worry about everyone keeping the exact same look style.
Here are a few of my favorite MAPs (all of these ones are from the Warriors Fandom which is one of my favorite fandoms, especially when it comes to the animation/art community):
